Back in April Mr.Petrocelli asked people on this forum to sell Vanguard 500 Index Fund to buy Vanguard Growth & Income Fund. Here's what he said.
Don't buy the 500 Index Fund.
Instead, buy Vanguard Growth and Income Fund.
Year to date VFINX is up 16.16%
For the last one year VFINX is up 15.16%
Year to date VQNPX is underperforming, up only 14.80%
For the last one year VQNPX is underperforming, up only 13.94%
In taxable accounts this gets ever worser.
Hopefully no one here listened to Mr.Petrocelli
All those people who want to believe they can beat the market should learn from Mr.Petrocelli's classic example of market timing -- a miserable failure.
