I'm new to all this, and am sure this has been discussed here often, so a brief answer or link (either to an earlier discussion or something out there on the web) would be great.
I need a beginner's (and I mean beginner's) introduction to what vintages are. At this point something that get the basics right and simplifies out some of the details would be perfect. I can delve into the details later, if it looks like it matters.
