The reason I posted this was that I have read on this forum the conserns for the safety on the MM funds. The negative votes only shows that some here are not reading the posts or that we are seeing the misuse of the up/down arrows by trolls.

Reminds me of the safe 50/50 portfolio - half under the mattress and half in jars buried in the back yard.

If anyone is worried they can lose a little interest and buy the Vanguard Admiral Treasury Money Market Fund (VUSXX). 50k minimum at a current yield * of  1.79%(*Average annualized income dividend over the past 7 days).

If money funds start breaking the buck we will all be in the same boat- another economic depression.

Tim - Tell it to M*. "Misuse of the up/down arrows by trolls"? Whatever it is, this is what M* wants. If I had an employee working for me who caused so much customer dissatisfaction and ignored customer feed back, he would be fired or placed in a corner somewhere. That is the situation here except in the case of M*, there is no concern for the customer. I have never seen anything like it in all my years.

In the interest of full disclosure, I voted your post down because I felt it was "sub-par" which is the M* criteria. Sorry about that Tim. Maybe M* Darrin can tell you why my vote down was a good thing.

Tim - There are all kinds of reasons to have money in a MM. I have no concern with that point. MM serves as a liquid investment for short term needs, or simply one of the safest investments for those who don't need to take the risk. Just so you understand my reply above:

Tim  - I realize you took some offense to what I said and I'm sorry. But I do so to make a point. As I said in an earlier post, at some some point I will become tired enough that I will leave. I am very close to that point.

I have issue with some of what has been said here by M* about the rating system:

"Regarding the ratings, thousands of votes are being cast each month, with the majority being used to highlight high quality posts. Based on your feedback and usage, we're modifying the ratings to make them more effective in their charge: to highlight the best content and bury the sub-par content."

Bury the sub-par content? As judged by the ratings? Are the ratings correct? Does it need to be buried? Why?

Also as said here by M*:

"I'm hesitant to remove the down rating all-together because it provides no middle ground.  A post is either really great and worthy of a positive vote, or worthy of removal from the site.  There is no way to say someone's ideas are a little suspect."

There is no way? How about a post saying so and making a case for that point?

This is not my forum and I respect that. But I think I may have had enough.

I'm one who voted your post down.  I did so because after opening the thread I found only a link.  I find it frustrating. I'll rarely follow a link without some suggestion of what its about. You took the time to create a link.  A sentence about why you felt the link is worth following would have helped me.  I'm not suggesting you change your posting style, just explaining why I didn't follow the link and why I voted the post negatively.

 BTW, I voted another of your posts 'up' after reading it.
