Insiders have been picking up odd lots of this stock at around $24 per share for the past several months.  It sold off this morning to a 52 week low of about $17.50.  It seems to have a product line that should have a very bright future and is turning a profit.   What is not to like about this thing?

The action before the close today is interesting.  It looks like one buy of 600k shares, 10 minutes before the close.  That does not look like short covering.  It looks more like a large investor accumulating some shares.  Perhaps we have our entry point.  Thoughts anyone???

I picked up a bunch more for myself and my clients last Thursday @ $ 18.25. Normally I wouldn't buy anything this close to earnings but I listened to their conference call last April and it sounded good. They have a nice back log and they aren't affected by the consumer so I think they should have a good quarter.

What would  reinstatement of the up-tick rule do for this stock?  At first thought, it would seem to be bullish.

It certainly wouldn't hurt. In the long term they will trade on their fundamentals so it won't make that much of a difference.

I thought everyone might be interested in this news release;

Fuel Tech, Inc. (NASDAQ: FTEK), a world leader in advanced engineering solutions for the optimization of combustion systems for utility and industrial customers, announces that it will release second-quarter results on Monday, August 11, 2008. In conjunction with this release, management will conduct a conference call, which will be simultaneously broadcast over the Internet.

9:00 A.M. Eastern Time

This might explain the uptick we got today.

I will be listening in on the conference call.  There was a front page story on the WSJ about all the pollution in Bejing. I think the street is missing all the upside with Fuelteck and their China growth.

Perhaps the earnings report will trigger a short squeeze..

I don't like to average down, but that earnings report looked O K to me so, I bought a few more shares at $15.00 even.

Apparently I'm allalone here, but a 17% gain in one day implies to me that some one is covering their shorts.

I listened in on the conference call and I liked what I heard.

I am low on cash and I bought more in July but I picked up some chunks for my

clients $ 16 last week.

OK, with the stock bumping around $18, is now a good time to be looking, or is this economy thing going to drag it down further?

The economy is unlikely to drag it down.  Short sellers or just general market conditions might have a negative effect on it, but the economy has a screaming need for it's products.  IMHO

I couldn't agree more. Not only is there a built in demand for its product

but the Chinese upside isn't even built into the stock price.
