"Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler all of this might have been avoided."

This quotation cited by President Bush has been a topic of much discussion lately.

What may not be generally known is that these words were originally spoken by Senator William Borah of Idaho in 1939.

Oh, Yeah....Senator Borah was a:  Republican !!!

Politics is no barrier to ignorance. You have ignored the real lesson here, which is that one cannot negotiate with people who want to destroy you, as Obama has said he does.

Doesn't make any difference, if they are Dem or Repub, they are still expected to act in the best interest of the country, not "The Party".

Mark....as I recall, virtually all heroes of the right save for this recent historical accident, Bush the Second, have embraced interaction/negotiation with our nation's enemies:  Reagan, Bush the First, Richard Nixon and Dwight Eisenhower.  And even that semi-literate cowboy clown George II "looked into Putin's soul," arranged appeasement deals with North Korea and Libya.  World history did not begin in January 2001.
