It should be obvious to all by now that the rise of other economies around the glob means oil will never be cheap again. I hear China is building a reserve similar to the US but much larger. And they will soon start filling it.
Present prices aren't justified by demand. We all know prices will reset higher and present prices have outstripped demand and are in a bubble. What we don't know is when the bubble finally bursts, where will prices land? Not back down where it was truly cheap.
If the democrats take the White House we wont hear much more about the evils of high priced oil because they have no fix for it either. Not unless they are going to destroy all those nations now coming on line.
Ultimately, in my opinion, America will realize it has no choice but to use rechargeable cars and ultimately the radical left will realize they have to allow us to build lots more carbon free nuclear power plants because you can't get enough solar and wind power to charge our cars and coal is a bad way to go.
A colder than average winter however has put the damper on the "global warming panic" that the far left is manufacturing.

I was really taking you seriously until I read your ridiculous, and typically Republican) last sentence.

Norm, if you are angry that we had a colder than average winter please do not blame "neocons". It was simply colder than average and when the snow was falling and temps dropping to cooled of the lefts manufactured "man-made-global-warming-worse" panic.
You better hope Carbon isn't going to melt the globe because Chian is putting 2,000 new cars a day on the road and they have a new coal plant going on line every one to two weeks and they are only getting going. We can stop using energy and they will still keep expanding and expanding their carbon output.
The days of the US being the worst "carbon polluter" are nearly over. The world makes more carbon than we do AND China is about to pass us and they wont look back. Unplugging your appliances and riding your bike to work is like spitting in the ocean.

Wonder what Gas Prices would be if just used Indexed to Inflation since 1970?
( and I had a 67 GTO, with Tri Power that got I think, about 8 mpg ! ) ahhh, the Good Ol days! But only made about $5 hr back then too ( $200 wk )
and i also think we ought to be doing like Sweeden and other Like countries.. Double our Gas Tax and use that $ to Provide Much Better Hwys/Bridges and Fund Medicare and make it our Nat'l Health care program..
Of course, I'm retired now and only drive about 10,000 miles a yr...and have a Elec. Golf cart to use locally 6 mos a yr......LOL
Well, I am not concerned with what the rest of the world is doing on energy..just what i can do to both Conserve and Save $ and if it helps our enviorment in the process, it's icing on the cake..
and add using > Flouresant Bulbs.. I cut my elec. needs by 25% since doing this ( and added some LED's too )
> Double insulation in the Attic and walls..Triple Glass Windows ( or add Sliding storm windows , like I did ) and add Good storm doors ( R-8 ) not the cheap ones ( R4)
and don't turn on the Gas furnance either..convert to either Propane and Electric Baseboard heat.. I converted to One Elec. Baseboard Heater in the Living room and kept house at 68 degrees.. I cut my Previous 3 yr ave heating bills by 56%!
and as for China? It's their Turn.. intitled to it.. They have what? 3x our population? and the ave home still doesn't have cable? LOL
And they still can't watch Bonanza? Or MTM show? Poor Things...How boring over there..
and I love Bike Ridding! I lost -30 lbs since starting it 2 yrs ago and gets me out of the house away from the Wife... beats hiding out in the Garage...
