KCallie,

The crux of this whole thing is contained in post #2515640.  I opened a new tab and am switching back and forth on the screens to refer to it.

It seems to me that you have taken various defensive measures to protect your portfolio during this time of unrest - holding off on buying of more dividend stocks, stopping dividend reinvestment, expressing concern about the impact of the election.  Absolutely nothing wrong with this, it's a very valid expression of your risk profile.  I've been using all possible spare cash to buy dividend and financial stocks although my available cash has been very limited this past year or two.  I wish the rollovers would happen already so I could deploy them and take advantage of this market.  This profiles my admittedly risky AA.

The things you need to think about and analyze are such things as:

Is this what you would have done 5 or 10 years ago?  What did you do in 2000 - 2001?  Is what you're doing consistent with your past investing behavior or has retirement, real or impending, altered your viewpoint?  In what ways?  Are they realistic in terms of available assets and cash flow needs?  Is it where and how you want to be?  Is your behavior consistent with your stated goals and intent?  Your behavior is probably a more realistic and viable expression of where your AA should be for a while.

I haven't seen any evidence of how you're going to manage the actual cash flow needs of the portfolio (Boy, is taking that money out an actual stab in the heart) and again, this is an area where actually experiencing and having to cope with it may cause big changes in plans.

There are lots and lots of different ways to do this.  The "trick" is to find the one that works for you in terms of comfort level, so you can stick with it, and in terms of surviving financially.
