dial-up? gasp ;-) just kidding.
It's not surprising that longer movies take forever to download on a 56Kbits/sec connection. Cable modem usually runs at 10-50 Mbits/sec, i.e., 200-1000 times faster...

Gotcha! For 9.95 a month, i shouldn't expect too much from my netscape connection. Thanks!

I had AOL dial up and I couldn't get any video like You Tube. I changed to AT&T and love it. All video works great. They have a plan for 19.95 DSL. I went with the 27.95 plan which is faster.

Hi Bw,
ont know if you have access to any of:
CavTel,
ATT
Verizon
Cox/Comcast
etc
All have packages of DSL or Cable modem - these are millions of bits per second kinds of services and the prices can be as noted above...
Dial-up is 56 thousand bits per second (if your modem negotiates that good a connection with the other end's modem.....it can be and often is less..
I pay about @ 50/mo for Cable I'net connection - dont use their TV or Phone - but could get all for about @ 110/mo. Due to some local wiring issues, Verizon doesnt support low-cost DSL for my area - it'd be 110/mo. If your Local phone wire supplier doesnt offer it...then you probably cant get it from CavTel or anyone else either...
Take a look at http://www.dslreports.com/search .
Good luck
D

Bullwinkle,
Hey man, I thought I was the last one to switch from dial up to DSL. I guess there is one person left huh?
Trust me, splurge for the extra $10 a month, you wont be sorry!
Good Luck with whatever you decide!
