Hi,

I tried to add options to my portfolio the other day and was not successful.  On a brokerage site usually one uses a hyphen in front of the option to put it in a portfolio.  I tried this on Moningstar and it did not work.  Is ther a way to keep track of options one owns using the Morningstar porlfolio feature.

Thanks,

Paul

Paul, I am not sure if this will work on M*, but there are 2 ways to express an option position (maybe more). One way is using the hyphen, as you mentioned, but the other way is to express it with no hyphen and put a period in front of the letters, like this:

VPM-CA  or    .VPMCA

Try that and let us know if it worked.

Hi,

I tried the dot and the hyphen on Morningstar and neither worked.  I guess that the Portfolio Manager is not set up for Options yet.  Thanks for mentioning to try the dot though.

I would also like to be able to track my options positions in the portfolio tracker.  In particular, I would like to be able to track short options positions.  I think that they reduce the volatility of my portfolio, and I would like to use the tools to see how much.

Hi all,

There is currently no way to track options in Morningstar portfolio, but we're working on it.
