Has anyone had  experience having Fidelity manage the investmnet portfolio?

It seems that there is a tendency to spread the assetts over too many funds, Fidelity and others. The uderlying phylosophy is to follow Wilshire 5000

Curious if anyone responded to this question? I am considering using PAS and would like to get some others experience if available. I have a proposal now.

I'd buy NAVFX at Fidelity for No Transaction Fee and sleep peacefully at night.

I am a very long-time Fidelity brokerage account holder and Fidelity fund investor, but I was not overly impressed with the account rep that wanted to talk to me a while ago about their services.  Very formula-based ideas - Wilshire 500 sounds about right.  I can do that myself.  In the end I decided I could continue to put together a portfolio on my own that did not require much time or worry on my part - or at least no more so than trying to make sure someone else was doing the job right.

I found..

1. Not one fund family has the best funds for me

2. Using a PAS service with one Fund Family and your going to get only their funds recommended

That being said..if oyur Certain ( or comfortable) using just one fund family?

I suggest you

A. Ck out other Free Advisors that use the same fund family of funds and see what their Ports say, such as

FundAdvice.com - Suggested Portfolios

'Lazy Portfolios' sparkle in '07, but new year brings adjustments - MarketWatch

For more Fido> Don Dion's  Independent Advisor newsletter

B. Go see Fido people and get their opinion

C. The Real Fun begins> Sit down, do your researching and comparisions ( If for a Long Term Port> go back at least 8 if not 10 yrs) uisng M* and Smart Money/Lipper charts

D. Then post your best choice in this Board and Let the Others Evaluate it and maybe fine tune it

Just add the Symbols, % allocations  and your obejctives..

and Then and only then, you might come out right 30% of the time...but be better off than just indexing..or letting your wife and kids spend it..

LOL

Then when all this is said and Done?  Just go invest your $ in a couple of the Top Balanced Funds and a Bond Fund ( LSBRX/VBMFX) odds R? You'll come out jusst as well or even bettter  ahead and spend alot less time, stress and $ on Taking Tylenol...LOL

No real experience but I looked into it last month.  I did not like the high fees and the lack of transparency.  It seemed that valuations were not readily available online and I like to have real time access 24/7. JOHN

I considered them a while ago but thought the fee's were a little high and wasn't sure i would be  comfortable with only over the phone contact and ended up not going with them. I'm currently looking for info and suggestions on asset management.

Appreciate the good suggestions and will check them out. Be nice if someone already did a brief study to compare several fee-based services like Fidelity, E-Trade, Smith Barney, etc to compare their returns, costs, and customer service. If I find something will post here.

I have experienced the PAS account. up and down, The fees never stop and although the return is ok, the rollercoater ride is not worth it. their portfolio(GROWTH _INCOME- appears to be a loser. When the Market is down the $ is cloberred, when the market is up -minimal return. I have held out on transfering some additional funds to the account, instead I have used vanguard. Im waiting for vanguard to roll out their much heralded retirement funds (3), to rollover my pas account. Dont  use the PAS account, you will be dissapointed as i have been.John

Hi,

I am an expert in the subject having worked and sold this service for FIdelity for 11 years. Feel free to email directly at xsnskima@yahoo.com to discuss in depth. All in all it is not the best place for your money, of course depending on circumstances it could be an option. I would have to know more about you before I could advise.

Good Luck

Chris

I have been a memebr of the growth and income PASaccount since early 2oo6.Have not lost any dollars but have not gained much either, yes, the fees keep on coming. Will be opting out soon and developing my retirement growth/income strategy. will appreciate suggestions, allocations  etc.  PAS is Not a good place to be, roller coaster experience. not good good  the heart, better off in a guaranteed CD..
