Washington – Freedom’s Watch, a nonpartisan mainstream conservative issues advocacy organization, today called for a congressional inquiry for the purposes of identifying the whereabouts of a much ballyhooed yet elusive “commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices.” Two years ago today, then-Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, announced that in fact her party was in possession of exactly such a plan, yet as of today, not a single Member of Congress has stepped forward to reveal it.
“Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices…” (Nancy Pelosi, Press Release, 4/24/06)
expect the same results from Obama

My apologies for misspelling "Germanofascist". I certainly didn't mean it as slight against your political affiliation . Mea culpa.

Sorry, now I get it.   You were just trying to divert from the promises of your Pelosi.

My response was to point out that the recovery by the "police state" was very different from our recovery.

Thank goodness we got a president that did take action.

The GNP was 34% higher in 1936 than in 1932 and 58% higher in 1940 on the eve of war. That is, the economy grew 58% from 1932 to 1940 in 8 years of peacetime, and then grew 56% from 1940 to 1945 in 5 years of wartime. However, the economic recovery did not absorb all the unemployment Roosevelt inherited. Unemployment fell dramatically in Roosevelt's first term, from 25% when he took office to 14.3% in 1937. Afterward, however, it increased to 19.0% in 1938 ('a depression within a depression'), 17.2% in 1939 because of various added taxation (Undistributed profits tax in Mar. 1936, and the Social Security Payroll Tax 1937, plus the effects of the Wagner Act; the Fair Labor Standards Act and a blizzard of other federal regulations), and stayed high until it almost vanished during World War II when the previously unemployed were conscripted, taking them out of the potential labor supply number.[52]

He did take actions - it did make a difference.  I had a relative in CCC and I've met other folks that were in the CCC too.

FDR ran on balanced budget and made to cuts toward that - but did completely abandon the goal so that recovery could be supported via government spending.

Hard to spin, but the Left tries.

Mostly by diverting, but spin is spin.

Your post about Ms. Pelosi is accurate.

I recall when George H.W. Bush (the father) was running for President he wagged his forefinger into the camera and said to the American people:  "Read my lips, No New Taxes."

Then, after the election, President Bush teamed up with Tip O'neill and Ted Kennedy and.......well, you guess what he did.

In the words of Michael Corleone to Senator Geary:

"Senator, we are all part of the same hypocrisy."

Thank you

Mr. Purrington

Ted , It was also in 1998 when then President Clinton vetoed drilling for oil in Anwar. Saying that it would be a decade before this oil would come to the consumers of the USA. That 10 year projection for the future, happens to be NOW !

In other words, the GOP controlled Congress attempted to head off this atrocious jump in oil prices while the Dems do nothing but dither and investigate steroids in baseball.

If Alaska was the size of a basketball, Anwar would be the size of the hole, where one installs the needle valve to put air in the basketball.

It's odd how much good press Pelosi gets. Apparently, a Dem woman can lie and do nothing about America's problems with the applause of the media.

Same old double standard.
