Comments:  I took a little profit in April by selling ¼ of my CAT and XOM. I feel the Commodity and Energy Rallies are getting long in tooth and that we should see a correction in at least one of them. Also sold 1/3 of my ZMH. This will be the first year I have to take RMD and I would rather decide for myself what to take, but that is another story. It is very interesting to watch the maneuverings between MSFT and YHOO regarding the takeover. I own both and I am glad I reduced them last October, when they both spiked up into the mid $30 range.

Best to all,

Herb

The adjusted allocation percentages reflect the bond component of the balanced funds.  In April, I bought a new position in VWEHX (Vanguard Hi Yield Corp) equal to 3.5% of overall portfolio.  This was to take advantage of the low NAV, and high yield, for this fund.  Foreign stocks total 7% of portfolio, 18% of equity.

KM's IRA 4/30/08 YTD is -4.17%
maruyamakiyoshi 05-01-2008, 10:08 AM | Post #2513565

My IRA portfolio is 40.46% domestic, 44.11% foreign, and 15.13% others as of 4/30/08. I am looking for opportunities to put 5% of 15.13% into equities, and then I will reach to a point where I am fully invested. My YTD in the past months are:

my port           my bogey (50% FSTMX, 50% FSIIX)  M*Fund Average

1/31/08     -9.20%              -7.10%                                              ?????

2/29/08     -6.74%              -7.68%                                              -6.18%

3/31/08     -10.54%            -8.15%                                              -7.00%

4/30/08     -4.17%              -4.34%                                              -3.66%

I take care of accounts for others and I don't tweak those accounts except once a year. They are always fully invested and are doing better than my IRA as of 4/30/08, except one account. This one account, I haven't changed funds in it for years and as you have guessed, it is heavy in financials. FWIW. KM
