In conversation no. 33614, a discussion was had whether a poster should have been advised to sell Primecap and TSM. This discussion resulted in a "bet" between me and Jeff Troutner in which he took TSM and I took Primecap, with $100,000 in each starting on March 4, 2004.

After just about 3 years and 6 months, here's where the "bet" stands:

Primecap: $146,330
TSM: $138,504

Primecap has returned 7.87% more.

I'll keep you updated.

How long was this bet to run?  Jeff is younger than you, and because he indexes, he has lead an easier life.

Commander Bill:

The bet runs until March 4, 2009.  Here's where we stand today:

  • Primecap: $143, 572
  • TSM: $134,857

The "mercy rule" may be invoked in December 2008.
