Why? Cuz I delete all old investments we no longer own.

Now why the heck would I delete our old investments? Doing so takes the history out of our performance stats. Well, I don't care... I care more for what our allocation is right now. For our correct YTD returns, you have to see what I report on HandsOn Tracking. For July, I suspect that it will not be pretty.

Let me explain more thoroughly why I delete old zero-share positions... Although I am not a trader, I believe in take the money and run. IOW, if I make a decent profit on what I consider to be a short- or intermediate-term investment, I'll cash out and take our profits and put them to work somewhere else. I consider 25% profit net of any fees or commissions "decent." If I close out for less, it's because I have lost faith in the investment's viability or momentum. If I hadn't deleted old positions over the years, I would have more than 100 investments showing 0% owned gumming up the works. Until M* fixes this glitch and makes their program "hide" zero-share positions, I will continue to delete any and all investments I sell out in full.

kerryvan, I've noticed that you have several sample portfolios entered here. Which one is your real one? Or if not your real-life portfolio, which one is closest to its investments and/or allocation?

I like this sharing stuff, don't you, kerryvan? I think it'll go over real BIG!

Major kudos to you, M* Darrin!!

Regards,
Susan

Re:Hello, kerryvan

none of them are close to mine...
